Because trout need high dissolved oxygen and steady cool temperatures, the farm depends on continuous water movement and oxygenation rather than on the still ponds used for many warm-water species.

Reproduction runs on separate equipment: a fish egg hatchery incubator holds and hatches trout eggs at the controlled flow and temperature they need before fry move to nursery tanks. Raceway / flow-through tank
A bolted HDPE tank run as a raceway gives trout the steady directional flow they are adapted to, with an outlet sized to sweep solids out rather than let them settle. Pair it with enough flow from your submersible pump to hold the water moving end to end.
Submersible water pump
A submersible water pump circulates cold water through tanks that cannot rely on gravity flow alone, keeping the current and oxygen distribution trout need. Size it to the tank turnover rate, with a spare on hand — a pump failure in a raceway is felt within minutes.
Dissolved oxygen cone
A dissolved oxygen cone dissolves pure oxygen under pressure, which is what lets a trout raceway carry more fish than incoming water alone could support. It is checked against the water quality monitor rather than run on a fixed setting.
Water quality monitor
A multi-parameter water quality meter tracks dissolved oxygen, pH, conductivity and temperature continuously, which matters more for trout than most species because they show stress quickly once oxygen or temperature drifts out of range.

Design & operating tips
Design around cold, moving water first. Confirm the flow your site can actually supply, then size the raceway tank and pump to that flow — trout raceways are far less forgiving of an undersized pump than a still pond is of an undersized aerator.
Treat oxygen as the ceiling on stocking density. A dissolved oxygen cone lets a farm carry more biomass than raw water flow would allow, but only if it is checked against a water-quality monitor, not run blind.
Keep hatchery and grow-out equipment separate. A fish egg hatchery incubator needs its own controlled flow and temperature independent of grow-out raceways, so fry are not exposed to adult-tank water quality swings.
Consider water reuse where cold water is scarce. Farms that cannot source enough flow-through water often move part of the operation to a recirculating aquaculture system, adding a UV sterilizer and biological filtration to make reuse safe.
